Lot 666: Chinese Batik Painting on Cloth, Mountain Landscape, Carved Wood Frame, 25 x 30 in

Hand painted on cloth using the traditional wax resist method, which is exactly where all that gorgeous crackle veining comes from. A classic Chinese mountain landscape with pines, a red roofed cottage and layered blue peaks, set in a chunky carved wood frame. Best part: the original printed explanation card is still attached to the back, walking through all ten steps of the batik process. A conversation piece that brought its own receipts.

Condition: Very good. The crackle lines across the image are the wax resist batik technique, not damage. Colors good, no stains seen. Hand carved Mexico frame with light rubs on the gold band. Original Batique Chinese Painting explanation label on the back. Wired.
