Lot 1015: L. Ginelli Original Oil Painting, Southern Italian Coastal Village, Ornate Gold Frame, 54 x 30 in

The Southern Italian coast at its most romantic. Sun washed villas with terracotta roofs and flowering terraces tumble down a green hillside toward a calm turquoise bay, while cypress and umbrella pines stand guard and the mountains fade into the haze across the water. Oil on canvas, signed L. Ginelli.

The back still carries a typed biography of the artist, Leonardo Ginelli, describing his studies and exhibitions in Italy, France and Austria, including the Kunstlerhaus and the Secession in Vienna, and his lifelong devotion to painting the coasts of Southern Italy.

Presented in a heavy, deeply carved ornate gold frame. At more than four feet wide, this is a true statement piece for over a sofa, a mantel, or a long dining room wall.

Condition: Very good. Bright, clean painting with fine age crazing in the thickest dark green areas, seen only up close. A few tiny specks in the water near the signature. Ornate gold frame is excellent with one small rub at a top corner and a tiny sticker remnant at lower right. Typed Leonardo Ginelli artist bio label on the back.
