Lot 1032: Mediterranean Terrace Oil Painting, Columns, Flower Pots and Harbor at Sunset, Heavy Impasto, Signed, Carved Wood Frame

Step out past the columns and the whole harbor is yours. A sunlit terrace runs straight toward the water, white balustrades on either side, pots of red geraniums at the pillars and a tumble of pink and violet blooms in the foreground. Across the bay a hillside village glows in late afternoon gold while a few small sails drift on the water.

Painted in heavy impasto with a palette knife, so the paint stands right off the canvas and catches the light from every angle. Signed at the lower left. Set in a dark carved wood frame with a distressed finish that lets warm red undertones peek through, which suits the Old World mood of the scene.

Condition: Good. Canvas and paint sound, colors bright. Age wear and rubbing to the frame finish as shown in the photos.
