Lot 682: Original Oil Portrait of Bearded Elder, Textured Canvas, Signed, Framed, 27.5 x 23 in

This gentleman has seen some things. A soulful, heavily textured oil portrait of a white bearded elder painted in warm amber, ochre and sage tones, with crackled, sculpted brushwork that gives it real old world character. Artist signed lower right. Framed with a linen liner. The kind of face that makes guests stop and ask, who is that?

Condition: Good. Painted over a crackle textured ground; the raised vein lines are part of the technique. One small pale round spot in the background to the right of the face. Frame has small rubs and a nick or two at the corners. Linen liner is clean. The canvas tacking edge is slightly loose at one corner on the back. Wired.

Size: 27.5 x 23 in. All measurements are approximate.
