Lot 1028: Chinese Ceramic Figural Wall Panel, Court Lady with Flowing Amber Sleeves, Gold Ground, 12 x 29 in

She has been mid dance for fifty years and has not dropped the pose once. A court lady in an amber robe sweeps her sleeve across a gold ground, her scarf trailing behind her, pale blue ceramic clouds drifting past at her feet. The figure, the clouds and the ribbon are all glazed ceramic, applied by hand so they stand right off the panel, which is why she catches the light from across a room.

Hand painted Chinese characters run down the upper right in raised white. Unframed, with the original black backing board. Classic mid century Asian decorator piece, the kind that hung in good homes and then sat in storage waiting for someone with taste to come along.

Condition: Good vintage. Ceramic elements intact and bright. Light soiling and age toning to the gold ground, a few scattered marks as shown. No frame.

Size: 12 x 29 in. All measurements are approximate.
