Lot 663: Mid Century Modernist Boy with Violin Painting, Signed, Robert Sills Gallery Label

Big eyes, a very serious little suit, and a violin he is absolutely not putting down. A mid century modernist portrait on a textured ground, artist signed lower left, set in a heavy oak frame. Still wearing its original Robert Sills Gallery, Inc. label on the back (North Hollywood, Art Auctions for Fund Raising) with register number R86-5502, so this one came out of a gallery fundraiser auction back in the day. That stylized look is having a real moment again with mid century collectors.

Condition: Very good. Textured mixed media with clean color. A light scuff mark in the dark brown background upper left. Oak frame is very good with one small scratch on the top rail. A water stain outline on the back of the canvas that does not show on the front. Robert Sills Gallery label. Wired.
